As the sole group on 12,000 acres, the opportunities are as endless as the terrain you will ride.
We are products of our environments and choosing the appropriate setting for an executive retreat is an important decision. The Lazy EL provides an opportunity to connect with both the land and with those around you. While nothing that we do here could be classified as simple, there is a raw sense of purpose and accomplishment that comes after a day of hard work on the ranch. Being able to disconnect from the hustle of everyday life while, at the same time, connecting with the satisfaction that comes from moving 2,300 cattle is an opportunity to take serious strides towards whatever goal you wish to accomplish.

Groups can participate in our regular routine, bring their own facilitator, or work with us to establish solidarity through the cowboy world of horsemanship and stockmanship. The owners have over 15 years of experience facilitating groups and can tailor the gathering whether you are wanting to do strategic planning, informal bonding, or develop your central staff and decision makers.

Jael Kampfe, a fourth generation Montanan rancher, with a diverse background in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors, is a graduate of Yale University. Jael served as editor and project manager in developing a Lakota Language textbook, which was the first full-length college curriculum written by a Native speaker. The textbook was published by the University of Utah Press.
Jael led a group of socially minded native and non-native non-profit leaders in developing Four Times Foundation, a non-profit organization that provided equity capital for reservation based Indians to start businesses. Gerald Sherman is the Founding Board Chairman and Executive Director of the Lakota Fund, one of the first micro-credit loan funds in the U.S. and the first on an Indian reservation. In 1989, Gerald traveled to Bangladesh where he studied the Grameen Bank, a world-renowned micro-credit bank developed by Mohammed Yunus, a 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
In 1991 Gerald went on to work for Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank) where he opened and managed a Norwest bank branch on the Lower Brule Indian Reservation.
